Notice - This connector is designed for Rough Cut lumber NOT nominal lumber (most common). This will only fit a beam and post that measures an actual 4x4". If you have a nominal beam and post measuring 3-1/2x3-1/2" you will need a BC4 Post Cap

The BC4R post cap is a light duty cap designed for connecting a rough cut 4x post and 4x beam. Rough cut means it’s made for lumber that’s an actual 4” wide or a true 4x4. The Strong-Tie BC4R post base features a G90 galvanized finish for corrosion resistance and requires the use of hot-dip galvanized fasteners which meet the specifications of ASTM A153.

• Do not install bolts into pilot holes
• This rough cut 4x4 post cap requires the following fasteners for installation: (24) - 16d x 3-1/2” Common Nails
• Post bases do not provide adequate resistance to prevent members from rotating about the base and therefore are not recommended for non top-supported installations (such as fences or unbraced carports).
• To tie multiple 2x members together, the Designer must determine the fasteners required to join members to act as one unit without splitting the wood.

NOTE: The correct fasteners installed in the correct position must be used to achieve published load values
