Simpson Strong-Tie H1.81Z Hurricane Ties provide a positive connection between 1-3/4" LVL rafters and the top wall plate to resist wind and seismic forces. The Strong-Tie H1.81Z Hurricane Tie features a G185 ZMAX galvanized finish for added corrosion resistance and requires the use of hot-dip galvanized fasteners which meet the specifications of ASTM A153.
Installation:
- Wider seat than the standard H1 Hurricane Tie to fit 1-3/4" LVL rafters.
- Use all specified fasteners.
- Use hot-dip galvanized (HDG) nails with ZMAX and HDG connector products.
- H1.81Z can be installed with flanges facing inwards or outwards.
- Hurricane ties do not replace solid blocking.
- Engineered pre-cut holes fit popular 0.148" x 1-1/2" connector nails.
NOTE: The correct fasteners installed in the correct position must be used to achieve published load values
