Plastic Corner Protector for tie downs
This economical high-density polyethylene corner protector is the perfect choice for protecting both your cargo and your tie down straps while on the road.
Built for commercial use, this blue cargo edge protection is highly rigid yet flexible enough to conform to your cargo for a securement system you can trust. It will not crack in cold conditions, has a textured bottom for added traction, and resists abrasion, cutting, and crushing.
When to Use a Strap Corner Protector
Edge protection is required by FMCSA section 393.104 “whenever a tiedown would be subject to abrasion or cutting at the point where it touches an article of cargo.”
This does not mean you only need protection when your cargo is sharp. Even loads like lumber and shingles can damage straps. When a tie down is pulled across cargo at a sharp angle and tension is added, it puts stress on the strap’s fabric. A corner protector provides a more rounded angle to distribute stress more evenly and creates a non-abrasive surface.
