Description

The Simpson Strong-Tie Stainless-Steel Bugle Head Wood Screw is engineered for decking projects where strength, durability, and appearance matter. Made from 316 stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance, these screws are ideal for fastening cedar, redwood, and preservative-treated woods in outdoor environments, and offer maximum protection in seaside and coastal applications.

Built for efficient installation, the screw features a 6-lobe star drive that reduces cam-out and extends driver bit life. Its bugle head ensures flush countersinking for a clean, professional look, while a Type 17 point and coarse threads provide quick starts and secure pull-through strength.

Key Features

  • 316 stainless steel - dependable corrosion resistance for exterior use in seaside and coastal applications
  • Bugle head design - countersinks flush for a concealed, professional finish
  • 6-lobe star drive - provides secure bit fit, easier driving, and longer bit life
  • Type 17 point with coarse threads - allows fast starts and pulls decking tightly to framing

Best solution for near-ocean environment - well worth the price

The weather on the Pacific Coast is brutal on redwood decks. The salt-laden fog here causes everything to rust. Before using these 316 Stainless deck screws, every time I had to replace a board I had to either pull nails, or try to unscrew steel screws which almost always break, whether coated with something or not, and often leave a threaded piece in the wood that forces one to rip the hole bigger to get the board off.

The best thing about these screws is not only that they will come out cleanly years after being installed, they can even be reused and have been on my deck.

I use these screws in several sizes for connecting just about any wood outdoors. I have never been disappointed in them. I highly recommend them.
