Fall Protection Equipment for Work at Height
Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of serious injury on jobsites, and the right gear is a big part of getting crews home safely. Fall protection is a category of personal protective equipment built to stop a fall, limit the forces on the body, or keep a worker from reaching the edge in the first place. Our selection covers full-body harnesses, anchorage, connectors, self-retracting lifelines, tool tethers, and more.
When Is Fall Protection Required?
OSHA trigger heights depend on the type of work. In general industry the threshold is 4 feet, in shipyards it is 5 feet, in construction it is 6 feet, and in longshoring it is 8 feet. Protection is also required when working over dangerous equipment or machinery regardless of height. Requirements change, so check OSHA's fall protection page and your local rules for the current guidance that applies to your site.
The Three Parts of a Personal Fall Arrest System
A basic system pairs three pieces, often described as anchorage, body support, and a connecting device. Each one has to be compatible with the others, and the full system needs to be selected for the worker, the task, and the available clearance below.
Anchorage
The anchor is the secure point your system ties off to, such as a roof, an I-beam, or a concrete surface. Options range from temporary and single-use anchors to permanent installations. Shop fall protection anchorage for roof anchors, beam anchors, concrete anchors, and tie-off adapters.
Body Support
A full-body safety harness spreads fall forces across the body and keeps the worker connected. Harnesses come in fall arrest, positioning, climbing, belted, and arc-rated styles, in a range of sizes.
Connectors
The connector links the harness to the anchor. Common choices include shock-absorbing lanyards, self-retracting lifelines, lifeline ropes with rope grabs, and carabiners. See the full connectors collection for everything in one place.
