Fall Protection Lanyards

A lanyard is the simplest way to connect a harness to an anchor. Our lanyards use durable webbing with strong end fittings, and they come in styles built for fall arrest or for positioning. Picking the right one comes down to how your crew works and what they connect to.

Choose by Job

Shock-Absorbing Lanyards

If the lanyard will be part of a fall arrest system, you want an energy absorber built in. It stretches or tears out in a controlled way during a fall, which slows the worker gradually and reduces the force on the body. The FallTech ElasTech 6' single-leg lanyard is a common general-purpose pick, and the double-leg version lets workers stay tied off while they change anchor points.

Adjustable Positioning Lanyards

For hands-free work at a pole, wall, or structural member, a positioning lanyard holds the worker in place so both hands can be used. The FallTech web adjustable positioning lanyard adjusts from 4' to 6'. Positioning lanyards are for work positioning only, so pair one with a separate fall arrest connection as your plan requires.

Details That Change the Choice

Length

Most options are 6' long. For tighter clearance or vertical lifeline use, consider the 3' lanyard with trailing rope grab, which is designed for 5/8" synthetic lifelines. Remember that a longer lanyard needs more fall clearance below the work area.

End Fittings

Standard snap hooks suit most anchors, but other fittings may fit your site better. Rebar hooks are useful for rebar and structural steel, and the ElasTech double-leg model with aluminum rebar hooks is a lighter-weight choice. Rope grabs, such as those on lifeline setups, let workers travel up and down a vertical line.

Other Connectors

Lanyards are one of several ways to connect to an anchor. If you want continuous mobility instead of a fixed length, see self-retracting lifelines. For vertical rope systems, browse lifeline ropes, rope grabs, and carabiners. The full connectors collection brings them together.

Build the Rest of the System
