Unlike lever binders, ratchet binders use a ratcheting mechanism instead of leverage to apply tension. This makes them safer, as the handle stores little kinetic energy—reducing recoil and snapback hazards. Ratchet binders also allow for more precise control, letting you tighten chain in smaller increments without the need for a handle lock.

Handle should be tightened at a downward angle.
Do not tighten or release the binder while you or anyone else is standing on the load.
Wrap the loose end of the chain around the handle and tightened chain for safety.
Do not close your hand around the binder.
Inspect binder prior to use for signs of wear. Do not use if damaged.
To ensure the load remains secure, check binders frequently.
