Description

5,400 lbs. Ratcheting Chain Binder

Ratchet chain binders are a trusted tool in the trucking and transportation industry, built to tension transport chain and keep cargo anchored securely on flatbeds and trailers. Commonly used for heavy equipment and other demanding loads, they provide the strength and control you need to move freight safely.

Grade 70 / 80 Ratchet Binder Construction

This binder is built with a forged carbon steel body and handle for maximum durability. Forged steel outperforms cast components, resisting higher forces without breaking and ensuring reliable leverage. Larger threads than many competitors add to its heavy-duty hold.

The cam-and-pawl design provides smooth ratcheting action, while forged grab hooks on each end feature shallow throats for quick, secure attachment to chain links. A durable powder-coated finish, applied at approx. 270°F using an electrostatic process, delivers long-lasting protection against scratches and wear.

Why Choose a Ratchet Load Binder?

Unlike lever binders, ratchet binders use a ratcheting mechanism instead of pure leverage to tighten chain. This makes them safer, as the handle stores little kinetic energy—reducing recoil and snapback hazards. They also allow for more precise control, letting you adjust tension in smaller increments without the need for a handle lock.

Ratchet Binder Industry Compliance

This 5,400 lbs. ratchet binder is FMCSA / DOT compliant and meets or exceeds WSTDA T-6 Recommended Standards. The working load limit and traceability code are embossed on the handle and body, and the hooks are marked with size and grade, ensuring quick identification and stress-free inspections.

⚠️Warning: Binders

Do not exceed the binder's working load limit.

Hand-tighten only; do not use a cheater bar.

Handle should be tightened at a downward angle.

Do not tighten or release the binder while you or anyone else is standing on the load.

Wrap the loose end of the chain around the handle and tightened chain for safety.

Do not close your hand around the binder.

Inspect binder prior to use for signs of wear. Do not use if damaged.

To ensure the load remains secure, check binders frequently.

The design change is frustrating

I have ordered over 15 of these binders that did not have pegs that could fall out if unscrewed too far. Now on my most recent order the pegs will unscrew all the way out which I am not a fan of. I originally thought it was a faulty binder as did USCG so they sent me new ones but to my discovery the binders they sent me are identical to the one I was concerned about. I appreciate them sending me replacement ones thinking it was faulty but I guess they just changed their supplier. Binder still functions just fine. Picture attached.

NOTE: Only issue was with shipper. The box was received in bad shape and open. luckily all item was intact and not damaged. This was the shippers fault.
