Description

5/8" 6x26 Wire Rope Cable

This 5/8" Impact® swaged 6x26 wire rope is compacted during manufacturing to deliver greater strength, flexibility, and service life than standard non-compacted wire rope of the same diameter. The swaging process reduces the rope diameter while increasing wire density, resulting in improved resistance to crushing, abrasion, wear, kinking, and bird-caging. Its enhanced handling characteristics and superior spooling performance make it a preferred choice for demanding lifting and material handling applications.

Compacted Wire Rope for Winches, Hoists & Material Handling Systems

The compacted 6x26 construction combines flexibility and durability, making it ideal for applications that require repeated bending while maintaining excellent wear resistance. Compared to conventional wire rope constructions, compacted wire rope offers greater strength and longer service life, helping reduce downtime and replacement costs.

Common applications include winch lines, hoist ropes, choker ropes, boom lines, trolley lines, and other heavy-duty lifting and rigging systems where reliable performance is critical.

6x26 Wire Rope Configuration

This wire rope is manufactured using EIPS-grade (Extra Improved Plow Steel) steel. EIPS wire rope delivers approximately 10% greater tensile strength than standard IPS-grade wire rope, providing increased breaking strength and dependable performance under heavy loads.

The class of this wire rope is 6x26. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, consisting of six outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 19-36 wires making up each strand. This design provides an excellent combination of flexibility, strength, and fatigue resistance.

Bright Finish & IWRC Construction

This rope features a bright steel finish protected with A-1 petroleum-based lubricant applied to both internal and external wires. The lubricant helps reduce friction, minimize internal wear, and provide basic protection against moisture and corrosion.

The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides greater support than fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope offers superior crush resistance, improved load stability, and reliable operation in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 400°F.

Benefits of Compacted Wire Rope

During manufacturing, the rope is swaged to reduce its diameter and increase the density of the steel wires. This process delivers several performance advantages compared to standard wire rope:

  • Higher breaking strength than non-compacted wire rope of the same diameter
  • Improved flexibility and handling characteristics
  • Greater resistance to crushing, abrasion, and wear
  • Reduced tendency to kink, bird-cage, or pig-tail
  • Smoother spooling on drums and winches
  • Extended service life in demanding applications

Wire Rope by the Foot Ordering FAQ

Will my wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.

Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.

Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
