Description

The Red Head Tapcon+ Heavy-Duty Blue Concrete Screw Anchor is a one-piece hex washer head anchor built to replace slower, multi-part wedge anchor installs. Whether you're running 3/8" tapcon screws for lighter-duty attachment or 1/2" tapcon concrete anchors for heavier structural loads, the Tapcon+ line uses Advanced Threadform Technology to cut directly into concrete, cutting out the washers, nuts, and torquing sequence that slow down traditional expansion anchors. With no expansion stress on the hole wall, installers can place anchors closer to edges and in tighter spacing than conventional red head anchor bolts, and remove them cleanly for retrofit and maintenance work. A Climaseal blue coating adds multi-stage corrosion protection, and the anchors are evaluated for uncracked, cracked, and seismic concrete applications under ICC-ESR-3699. Available as 3/8" tapcon concrete screws and 1/2" tapcon concrete screws in 3 inch, 4 inch, 5 inch, and 6 inch tapcon screw lengths, this anchor family covers most everyday concrete fastening jobs.

Key Features

  • One-piece hex washer head design, no separate washers, nuts, or sleeves to lose or mismatch on the jobsite
  • Advanced Threadform Technology cuts into concrete for faster drive time versus traditional red head concrete anchors
  • Up to 20% higher holding power compared to wedge anchors of the same diameter
  • No expansion stress on the hole wall, allowing closer edge distance and tighter anchor spacing
  • Heat-treated carbon steel construction for strength and ductility
  • Climaseal blue coating for enhanced corrosion resistance in demanding environments
  • Removable and reusable, making it a practical choice for retrofit and maintenance applications
  • ICC-compliant and evaluated for uncracked, cracked, and seismic concrete under ESR-3699

Applications

  • Electrical, low-voltage, and MEP contractor installs (conduit, boxes, supports)
  • Data center and server room infrastructure mounting
  • Warehouse and industrial fastening, including racking, cable tray, and equipment supports
  • Conveyor belt and machinery mounting
  • Facility maintenance and retrofit work where removable anchors simplify future service
  • General concrete anchoring for steel erectors and construction crews standardizing on one anchor system

Installation

  1. Drill: Use the drill bit diameter matching your chosen anchor diameter (3/8" bit for 3/8" tapcon anchors, 1/2" bit for 1/2" tapcon anchors) to drill the hole to the required embedment depth.
  2. Clean: Clear all dust and debris from the hole to ensure proper thread engagement.
  3. Drive: Drive the anchor directly into the hole with an impact driver or wrench. No pre-assembly, washers, or torque sequence required.

Always confirm embedment depth, spacing, and edge distance requirements against ESR-3699 documentation, project specifications, and local building code before installation. For engineered or load-critical applications, consult a qualified professional or the manufacturer's technical data.
