Description

When your job calls for a reliable, fast, flush finish wood-to-metal fastening solution, the Daggerz Self-Drilling Metal Screw with Wings and Phillips Flat Head in Dagger-Guard coating answers the call. Its winged design bores a clearance hole through wood or other panel material, then breaks off as the self-drilling point penetrates steel, allowing a tight wood-to-steel connection. The Phillips flat head ensures the screw seats flush, and the Dagger-Guard finish delivers advanced corrosion protection for interior or exterior use.

Key Features

  • Self-Drilling Point (#4 Drill Point): Eliminates the need for pre-drilling by driving directly into light-gauge steel.
  • Winged Design: Wings ream a clearance hole through the top panel or substrate to prevent material from riding up the shank. Wings break off upon steel contact.
  • Phillips Flat Head: Offers a wide bearing surface and flush finish, ideal for wood, sheathing or other panel overlays.
  • Dagger-Guard Coating: Corrosion-resistant finish tested to 1,000-hour salt spray for superior performance in demanding environments.
  • Compatible with Wood and Metal: Designed for fastening plywood, OSB, or wood-based materials to steel studs or metal framing components.

Applications

  • Fastening wood or panel sheathing to light-gauge steel studs, track or framing in commercial or residential projects.
  • Roof decking, sheathing, subfloor panels or wall overlay installation to steel supports.
  • Outdoor or humid-area framing where corrosion resistance and a flush, smooth finish are required.
  • Mechanical or retrofit work where the clearance hole helps eliminate surface distortion and improve contact between materials.

Installation

  1. Select a screw length and diameter that allows full panel clearance and full penetration into the steel substrate.
  2. Use a power driver with a #3 Phillips bit. Adjust torque or clutch to avoid overdriving the screw and damaging the panel face.
  3. Drive perpendicular to the surface. Wings will create the clearance hole and break off as the point reaches the steel layer.
  4. Continue until the flat head is flush with the panel surface. Do not overtighten or countersink beyond flush depth.
  5. Ensure the Dagger-Guard coating is suitable for the project environment, especially if the application is exterior or exposed to moisture.
  6. Follow proper fastening pattern, spacing, and substrate guidelines for code compliance and structural integrity.

The Right Point for Every Project

Different point types pierce various materials. Standard points handle light- to medium-gauge metal, long points tackle thicker steel, self-piercing points work well in wood or thin metal and winged points clear softer layers before drilling harder substrates, ensuring faster, cleaner and secure installations.
