Applications
Ideal for flatbed trucking, trailer hauling, freight transport, and other cargo securement applications that use standard 4-inch winches. Flat hooks are well suited for loads secured to compatible rub rails or trailer edges where a wide contact area can help distribute tie-down force.
Installation
Attach the flat hook to a compatible rub rail or trailer edge, then feed the opposite end of the webbing into the winch. Tension the strap according to the winch manufacturer's instructions and applicable cargo securement procedures. Per WSTDA guidance, maintain a minimum of 2 wraps and a maximum of 4 wraps of webbing on the winch mandrel. Excessive wraps can reduce the working load limit and interfere with proper winch operation.
Flat Hook Considerations
Flat hooks provide a broad contact area that helps distribute tie-down force and include a built-in defender to reduce webbing wear. They are a practical option when a compatible rub rail or trailer edge is available. For applications with limited anchor-point space or without a suitable rail, another end-fitting style may be a better fit.
