Description

At the narrowest end of the line, this twisted eye nylon lifting sling, also called a type 4 nylon web sling, has eyes like a straight eye sling, but each loop twists to create a right angle to the sling body. That twist lets the sling sit snugly against a crane or hoist hook. While a twisted eye and eye sling also works in a basket or vertical hitch, it's most suited to choker hitch use. In this width, its 2-ply construction steps up capacity while staying easy to handle.

Key Features

  • Twisted loop at each end creates a right angle to the sling body for a snug fit on hooks
  • Best suited to choker hitch use, though basket and vertical hitches also work
  • Sling is built in the USA using 9,800 lbs. per inch industrial-grade webbing to industry standards
  • a leather tag sewn into the strap records the working load limit for every hitch it's rated for
  • Length is taken from the load-bearing point at one eye to the load-bearing point at the other
  • A proof-testing certificate can be added for a fee, but only if requested when the order is placed

Applications

  • Choker hitch rigging where a snug fit against the hook matters
  • Jobs that occasionally shift to a basket or vertical hitch without changing slings
  • Crews standardizing on a twisted eye and eye sling for hook-heavy rigging work

Determining Sling Length

Sling length is measured from the load-bearing point of one eye to the load-bearing point of the opposite eye, providing the effective working length of the sling.
