Description

Stepping up from the narrowest width, this twisted eye nylon lifting sling, also called a type 4 nylon web sling, has eyes like a straight eye sling, but each loop twists to create a right angle to the sling body. That twist lets the sling sit snugly against a crane or hoist hook. While a twisted eye and eye sling also works in a basket or vertical hitch, it's most suited to choker hitch use. In this width, its single-ply construction keeps it light and economical. Select lengths are also available as a reinforced twisted eye sling, with wear pads sewn into each eye.

Key Features

  • Twisted loop at each end creates a right angle to the sling body for a snug fit on hooks
  • Reinforced twisted eye sling option available in select lengths, adding wear pads for a twisted eye sling reinforced ends build
  • Best suited to choker hitch use, though basket and vertical hitches also work
  • Sling is manufactured in the USA from heavy-duty industrial webbing rated at 9,800 lbs. per inch
  • working load limits for each hitch type are recorded on a sewn-in leather tag
  • To measure, go from the load-bearing point of one eye straight to the load-bearing point of the other
  • Proof-testing certificates are available for an added fee, requested at time of order rather than after

Applications

  • Choker hitch rigging where a snug fit against the hook matters
  • Jobs that occasionally shift to a basket or vertical hitch without changing slings
  • Jobs with repeated hook contact at the eyes, where stepping up to the reinforced twisted eye sling length adds abrasion resistance

Determining Sling Length

Sling length is measured from the load-bearing point of one eye to the load-bearing point of the opposite eye, providing the effective working length of the sling.
