Specifications
The Simpson Strong-Tie S/HDB series holdowns are designed for high-load shearwalls, braced-wall panels, and lateral applications in cold-formed steel construction. These holdowns install with bolts into studs or columns, making them ideal for bolt-on applications where the cold-formed steel stud manufacturer can pre-punch the bolt holes. The S/HDB series features a unique seat design that helps minimize deflection under load.

Installation
Install the S/HDB holdown with bolts into the studs or column using all specified fasteners. Standard washers are required on stud bolt nuts, and stud bolts should be A307. An anchor bolt washer is not required. Boundary members, including back-to-back studs, must be designed by the Designer. S/HDB holdowns can also be welded per the Designer's recommendation and specification. To tie back-to-back stud members together, the Designer must determine the fasteners required to bind the members to act as one unit. Always follow Simpson Strong-Tie installation instructions and applicable load table requirements for the selected model.
