7x19 Aircraft Cable

7x19 aircraft cable is a versatile wire rope construction that combines excellent flexibility with dependable strength, making it suitable for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications. Commonly used for winch lines, cable railing, sailboat rigging, safety cables, garage doors, exercise equipment, and general-purpose rigging, the 7x19 construction performs well anywhere frequent bending and smooth operation are required.

Although often referred to as aircraft cable, this commercial-grade wire rope is not intended for aircraft control systems or overhead lifting applications.

How Aircraft Cable Differs from Standard Wire Rope

Aircraft cable is a type of wire rope, but the term is typically used to describe smaller-diameter constructions, generally available up to 3/8". Larger wire rope constructions are designed for heavier lifting, rigging, and material handling applications where greater load capacities are required.

Stainless Steel Aircraft Cable

Stainless steel aircraft cable provides excellent corrosion resistance for marine, coastal, food processing, and other environments exposed to moisture or chemicals. Type 304 stainless steel offers dependable corrosion protection for general applications, while Type 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum for enhanced resistance to chlorides and saltwater, making it the preferred choice for harsh marine environments.

Galvanized Aircraft Cable

Galvanized 7x19 aircraft cable is manufactured from Improved Plowed Steel (IPS) and protected with a durable zinc coating that helps resist rust and corrosion. It offers excellent strength, long service life, and outstanding value for outdoor and general-purpose applications. Compared to electro-galvanized cable, drawn galvanized wire provides a more durable coating that is less likely to crack or flake during use.
