Description

5/16" 7x19 Aircraft Cable | Galvanized

This 5/16" galvanized 7x19 aircraft cable is a versatile steel cable designed for applications requiring flexibility, fatigue resistance, and corrosion protection. Commonly used for deck railing systems, pulleys, winches, exercise equipment, and general utility applications, the 7x19 construction provides excellent handling characteristics and long service life.

Note: Despite the name, aircraft cable is not intended for aircraft use. Before using this cable for critical overhead lifting applications, consult a qualified rigging professional.

Flexible Galvanized Cable for Railings, Pulleys & Winches

The 7x19 construction utilizes numerous small wires arranged into flexible strands, allowing the cable to bend easily around pulleys and sheaves while maintaining excellent fatigue resistance. Compared to many traditional wire rope constructions, aircraft cable offers superior flexibility, making it ideal for applications involving repeated movement and routing through tight spaces.

How Does Aircraft Cable Differ From Wire Rope?

Aircraft cable is generally available in diameters up to 3/8", while traditional wire rope is commonly produced in much larger diameters exceeding 2". Aircraft cable constructions prioritize flexibility and handling characteristics, making them popular across a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.

7x19 Steel Cable Configuration

Our aircraft cable is manufactured using IPS-grade steel. IPS (Improved Plow Steel) is a proven wire rope grade that provides dependable strength and durability for general-purpose applications.

The class of this cable is 7x19. These numbers nominally refer to the cable construction and indicate seven total strands, including the core strand, with approximately 15-26 wires within each strand. Six outer strands are wrapped around a central core strand to create a highly flexible cable construction.

Hot-Dip Drawn Galvanized Finish

The hot-dip drawn galvanized finish provides superior corrosion resistance compared to bright steel cable while maintaining strength and flexibility. Unlike some traditional galvanizing methods that can reduce break strength, the drawn galvanization process preserves cable performance while adding durable corrosion protection.

This finish also improves ductility and long-term durability, helping resist cracking, flaking, and wear in demanding outdoor environments.

Wire Rope by the Foot Ordering FAQ

Will my wire rope arrive as one continuous length?
Yes. The quantity you order will be supplied as one continuous, uncut length of wire rope. For example, if you order a quantity of 1,000, you will receive a single 1,000-foot length.

Can I order multiple separate lengths?
Yes. To receive multiple lengths, add each length to your cart as a separate line item. For example, if you need two 1,500-foot lengths, enter a quantity of 1,500 and add it to your cart twice. Each line item will be cut and supplied as a separate length.

Can I order lengths shorter than the minimum order quantity if the combined total exceeds the minimum?
Yes. If your combined order will exceed the minimum quantity requirement but you need shorter individual lengths, please call our team to place your order. One of our product experts will be happy to assist.
