This 5/8" 304 stainless steel wire rope features a versatile 6x19 construction that balances flexibility, abrasion resistance, and corrosion protection. Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel Cable for Rigging, Hoisting & Winch Applications
The 6x19 class is one of the most widely used wire rope constructions due to its combination of durability and flexibility. Compared to 6x37 wire rope, the 6x19 construction provides superior abrasion resistance when operating over drums, sheaves, and other contact surfaces. While slightly less flexible than a 6x37 rope, it delivers excellent performance in demanding industrial, commercial, and outdoor applications.
Type 304 stainless steel offers strong corrosion resistance in most environments and is often selected when additional strength and cost savings are preferred over the maximum corrosion protection offered by 316 stainless steel.
6x19 Wire Rope Configuration
The class of this wire rope is 6x19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope's construction, consisting of six outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 15-26 wires making up each strand. This design creates an ideal balance between flexibility, strength, and abrasion resistance.
Compared to a 6x37 wire rope, the 6x19 construction offers greater resistance to wear and abrasion, making it well-suited for applications involving repeated contact with sheaves, drums, and other working surfaces.
304 Stainless Steel & IWRC Construction
Type 304 stainless steel provides excellent resistance to rust and corrosion while maintaining higher tensile strength than 316 stainless steel. It is commonly used in industrial, architectural, and outdoor applications where long-term corrosion protection is required.
The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides greater support than fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope offers improved crush resistance, better load stability, and reliable performance in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 400°F.
