2" Polyester Webbing for Ratchet Straps, Winch Straps, and Replacements

Two inches is the width most people picture when they think of a heavy-duty tie down. It is the common size for ratchet straps, winch straps, and track straps, so 2" polyester webbing is where you land when you are rebuilding one of those, replacing a frayed section, or cutting new straps to a specific length. Polyester has low stretch, which helps a strap stay tight once it is cranked down.

We offer two strengths in 2" width, 6,000 lbs. and 12,000 lbs. break strength. Both are sold per linear foot or in 300' rolls.

6K or 12K: Which 2" Webbing Fits?

Option Break strength Colors
2" Polyester Webbing, 6K 6,000 lbs. Black, blue, gray, red, yellow
2" Polyester Webbing, 12K 12,000 lbs. Black, blue, green, orange, red, white, yellow, olive drab, camo

Start with the hardware, not the webbing. A strap is only as capable as its weakest part, so match the webbing to the rating of the tie down hardware you plan to use. The 12K option has the higher break strength and the wider color range. The 6K option suits lighter-duty builds where the hardware is rated to match.

Break strength is not a working load

Those numbers mark the point where unused webbing gives out. After it is sewn and fitted with hardware, the finished strap carries a lower working load limit, and the whole assembly sets it. Look up the manufacturer's ratings, plus any DOT or site rules that apply to your load, before the strap goes into service.

Common Uses for 2" Webbing

  • Rebuilding or replacing webbing on 2" ratchet straps
  • Making winch straps to fit flatbed and trailer winches
  • Trimming track-fitting straps for E-track and L-track systems
  • Securing equipment, pallets, lumber, and other freight
  • Custom-length straps for shop, farm, and utility use

Finish the strap with tie down hardware sized for 2" webbing. If you would rather skip the build, shop replacement tie down straps.

Color Choices

Color is more than looks on a job site. Bright reds and yellows are easy to see around trucks and trailers. Black and gray hide grime. Olive drab and camo suit military-style and outdoor gear. Colors also let you sort straps by truck, load type, or crew. To shop one color at a time, see red, green, or camo webbing. Building a set of straps that should look identical? Shade can vary a little between production runs, so order everything for the set in one purchase.

Ordering Length

Ordering per linear foot is handy when you only need enough for a repair or a single strap. A 300' spool fits shops and fleets that make or replace straps often, and keeps your material consistent from one strap to the next.

Other Widths and Materials

Need a lighter strap? Look at 1" polyester webbing. Need more capacity? Step up to 3" and 4" polyester webbing. You can compare every width in the polyester cargo webbing collection. If the job needs stretch to absorb shock instead of holding a load steady, see nylon webbing.

This webbing is strap material, not a finished lifting sling. For anything overhead, buy a sling that comes with its own rating.

Keep It in Service Longer

  • Check the whole strap for cuts, frays, burns, and glazed or melted areas before every use.
  • Use a wear sleeve where webbing meets edges or corners.
  • Take damaged webbing out of service.
  • Store straps dry and out of prolonged sun.

2" Polyester Webbing FAQs

Is 2" webbing the standard width for ratchet straps?

It is one of the most common widths, along with 1", 3", and 4". Match the webbing to the width your hardware is made for.

Can I buy 2" webbing by the foot?

Yes. Both the 6K and 12K options can be ordered as single linear feet or as full 300' rolls.

What is the difference between the 6K and 12K options?

The 12K has twice the break strength and is offered in more colors. Choose based on the rating of your hardware and the demands of the job.

Does break strength equal the load I can secure?

No. A finished strap has a lower working load limit that depends on the hardware and how the strap is built and used.
