D-Ring Extenders

D-Ring Extenders

The dorsal D-ring sits between the shoulder blades, which is exactly where it is hardest to reach. A D-ring extender adds a length of webbing to that attachment point so a worker can clip a lanyard or SRL on at a comfortable height, without twisting or straining to find the ring while fully geared up.

How They Work

The extender attaches to the back D-ring and presents a second D-ring or loop within easy reach. Your lanyard or self-retracting lifeline connects to the extender instead of reaching behind the shoulders. The result is quicker, more consistent connections, which helps crews keep tied off.

An example is the FallTech 18" Dorsal D-Ring Extension, which adds 18 inches of reach and uses alloy steel hardware with high-strength polyester webbing.

Plan for Fall Clearance

An extender makes your connection longer, and that extra length counts toward the clearance you need below the worker. Add the extension length to your clearance calculation, especially when it is paired with a shock-absorbing lanyard. The manufacturer's instructions for each component should be followed, and the system should be reviewed by a qualified person where required.

Pairs Well With

• Full-body harnesses with a dorsal D-ring.
• Carabiners sized to your anchor or connector.
• Other connectors in the same system.
