Fall Protection Anchorage
Every fall arrest system depends on a secure anchor, and choosing the right one is just as important as choosing the harness. Fall protection anchorage gives you a dependable connection point on a roof, beam, wall, or slab so lanyards, SRLs, and lifelines have something solid to attach to. Anchors are available as temporary, reusable, and permanent options.
What to Think About First
- Structure: what are you attaching to, such as a roof deck, steel beam, concrete, or an existing structural member?
- Temporary or permanent: will the anchor come off at the end of the job or stay in place?
- Capacity: check the rated load and the user weight range for every anchor you use.
- Standards and documentation: review the manufacturer's instructions and any requirements that apply to your site.
Roof Anchors
Roof anchors suit residential and commercial roofing, and they come in installation styles for ridge, under ridge cap, and flat or sloped decks. Options span single-use temporary anchors, the reusable hinged roof anchor, and permanent dual D-ring roof anchors. You can also look at the Guardian Ridge-It permanent roof anchor.
Concrete Anchors
For concrete, choose between anchors set into a pour and anchors that attach to cured concrete. Concrete embed anchors attach to rebar before the pour, while the removable concrete wedge anchor goes into cured walls or ceilings. Always follow the manufacturer's installation requirements and applicable guidance for the concrete you are working with.
Beam Anchors and Clamps
Beam anchors let you create a tie-off point on an existing I-beam without welding or drilling. Fixed models like the 3M DBI-SALA fixed beam anchor hold a set position, while trailing models such as the FallTech trailing beam clamp and the MSA Workman Stryder roll along the flange so the worker has more range of movement. Match the anchor to your beam flange width.
Tie-Off Adapters and Slings
Pass-through slings wrap around a structural member and connect back through their own D-ring, making a versatile choke-style anchor. The 4' cable pass-through sling has a protective coating for use outdoors, and the 2' web pass-through sling includes a wear pad for added abrasion resistance. The 3M DBI-SALA reusable tie-off adapter is another option. Cross arm and pole work is covered by the Guardian cross arm strap.
