Jaw & Jaw Turnbuckles
Heavy duty adjustment hardware for wire rope, rigging, and tensioning applications.
Dial in tension with confidence using jaw & jaw turnbuckles built for demanding jobs. This collection features forged bodies with jaw end fittings for secure pin connections to thimbles, eyes, and hardware. Hot dip galvanized finishes help resist corrosion in outdoor and marine environments, while included lock nuts on select models help maintain set tension during service.
Key Features
- Forged construction for strength and durability in load bearing setups.
- Hot dip galvanized finish for corrosion resistance in harsh conditions.
- Jaw to jaw end fittings for positive pin connections to chain, wire rope, and hardware.
- Lock nuts included on Van Beest models to help hold your adjustment under vibration.
- Multiple body lengths commonly available in 6, 12, 18, and 24 inch for usable take up.
- High working load limits with popular sizes such as 1 inch rated at 10,000 lb and 1-1/2 inch rated at 21,400 lb. Always select by WLL and application.
Best Uses
- Wire rope tensioning on towers, signage, and structural bracing
- Marine, yarding, and industrial rigging where precise adjustment is required
- Permanent or semi-permanent connections that need periodic re-tensioning
Safety and Application Notes
- Use for straight, in-line pulls only. Do not side load a turnbuckle.
- Match the working load limit to your maximum applied load. Never exceed the listed WLL.
- Install jaw pins with the correct hardware. Use cotter pins or lock nuts as provided.
- Inspect before each use. Remove from service if you see deformation, cracks, damaged threads, or corrosion that reduces cross-section.
How to Choose a Jaw & Jaw Turnbuckle
- Select the size and WLL that meets or exceeds your load requirements.
- Pick the body length that provides enough take up for your installation, typically 6, 12, 18, or 24 inch.
- Confirm pin and jaw dimensions to fit your thimble, eye, or connection hardware.
- Choose galvanized for outdoor exposure and general rigging environments.
