Personnel safety nets are passive fall protection systems installed beneath elevated work areas. Unlike a personal fall arrest system built around an individual harness and lanyard, a net provides continuous protection across an entire work zone for multiple workers at once.   • A personnel safety net should never be used as a substitute for a dedicated debris containment system. Heavy debris, concrete, steel, and demolition material need their own containment, and letting significant debris build up in a personnel net can create new hazards and compromise how it performs in an actual fall.
  • If your project generates debris, pair a debris liner with your personnel fall protection system rather than relying on the personnel net alone.
