For example, if we have a 5" anchor, our material is 1/4" thick, the washer is 1/4", and the nut is 1/2", the total is 1". We would therefore drill a 4" hole into the concrete. The hole then has to be cleaned out thoroughly before inserting the anchor and tightening it with a torque wrench. With a concrete screw, we can drill the hole 1/4"–1/2" deeper than the required embedment depth, clean the hole, and then install the screw using an impact driver.
