Description

This outward offset Porta Winch transforms standard trailer stake pockets into secure anchor points for 4" winch straps. Designed for open deck trailers without track-mounted tarp systems, it allows you to tie down cargo at any stake pocket along the trailer frame for flexible load positioning.

Rated at a 5,500 lb working load limit, this portable winch offers more tension than standard ratchet straps and solves the issue of clamp-on winches that can loosen over time. The outward offset design provides clear strap access and optimal winch placement without interfering with side-mounted tarp tracks.

Key Features:

  • Stake Pocket Compatibility: Fits standard trailer stake pockets — no permanent mounting required.
  • Outward Offset Design: Ideal for trailers without tarp systems; positions the winch further from the trailer body.
  • 5,500 lb Working Load Limit: Built for heavy-duty cargo securement in transport applications.
  • Improved Load Tension: Allows higher tensioning than ratchet straps for tighter, more stable tie-downs.
  • Portable & Legal Solution: Easily removable and meets FMCSA requirements for securement.

For tensioning, the WSTDA recommends in section 4.3.5 that "When using any winch, the winch mandrel shall have a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (4) wraps of webbing. Two to four wraps will appear like four to eight layers of webbing. Less than two wraps may result in strap slippage; more than four will place unnecessary strain on the winch. Excessive straps of webbing on the mandrel may reduce the working load limit (WLL) of the winch and may interfere with proper operation."
