Closed & Closed Spelter Socket Slings
Closed & Closed Spelter Socket Slings
A spelter socket, also called a poured socket, gives a wire rope sling a termination that takes fittings easily. It's attached by pouring molten zinc or resin into the socket, where it hardens and holds the socket in place on the end of the wire. That process delivers 100% efficiency of the rope's breaking strength, so the termination doesn't reduce the sling's capacity.
Closed Sockets on Both Ends
This sling has a closed spelter socket on each end. Each closed socket has a hole sized for a pin or bolt, which makes it a good match for lifting and rigging setups that connect with a pin or bolt.
Sizing and Capacity
Working load limit depends on the wire rope's diameter and length. These slings come in diameters from 1/4" to 1-1/2" and lengths from 2 to 20 feet, with working load limits of up to 22.8 tons.
