Cordstrap Composite Strapping

Secure heavy loads with confidence using Cordstrap Composite Strapping. Designed as a safer alternative to steel banding, composite strapping delivers high tensile strength, excellent load retention, and reliable performance in demanding shipping, warehousing, construction, and industrial applications.

Available in multiple widths and break strengths, Cordstrap composite strapping helps protect cargo during storage and transit while reducing the safety risks associated with traditional steel strapping.

What Is Composite Strapping?

Composite strapping is manufactured from high-tenacity polyester filament yarns encased in a durable polypropylene coating. This construction creates a rigid, rope-like strap that offers resistance to abrasion, cuts, and UV exposure.

Unlike steel banding, composite strapping won't rust, recoil, or create sharp edges during handling. Even when the outer coating experiences minor damage, the internal polyester fibers continue to provide load-securing strength, making composite strapping a dependable choice for securing lumber, steel products, machinery, piping, pallets, and other heavy cargo.

Benefits of Cordstrap Composite Strapping

  • High tensile strength for demanding load securement applications
  • Safer to handle than traditional steel strapping
  • Resistant to abrasion, weather, and UV exposure
  • Maintains tension during transport and storage
  • Flexible enough to conform to irregular loads
  • Lightweight and easy to transport on the jobsite
  • Compatible with galvanized wire buckles and strapping tensioners

Standard vs. Ultra-Flex Composite Strapping

Standard Composite Strapping

Standard composite strapping offers excellent rigidity and strength for everyday load securement applications. Its stiffer construction makes it easy to feed under pallets and around large loads.

Recommended Temperature Range: 41°F to 176°F / 5°C to 80°C

Ultra-Flex Composite Strapping

Ultra-Flex composite strapping is designed to remain flexible in colder environments. It's an ideal choice for outdoor storage, cold-weather shipping, and refrigerated facilities.

Recommended Temperature Range: -4°F to 86°F / -20°C to 30°C

How to Use Composite Strapping

Composite strapping is secured using galvanized wire buckles and tightened with a compatible strapping tensioner. The strap's polypropylene coating helps improve grip while protecting the internal polyester fibers.

For maximum performance and holding power, always use the correct buckle size and tensioning tool designed for your selected strapping width.

Understanding System Break Strength

When selecting composite strapping, it's important to consider the system break strength rather than the strap strength alone.

System break strength refers to the total holding capacity of the complete strapping system, including the composite strapping, compatible galvanized buckle, and proper tension applied with a strapping tensioner.

Without proper tensioning equipment, the overall system strength can be significantly reduced.

How Much Strapping Do You Need?

The combined system break strength of all straps used should exceed the total weight of the load being secured.

For example, a 3,000 lb. load secured with strapping rated at a 1,000 lb. system break strength would require a minimum of three straps to meet the required load capacity.
