Cordstrap Buckles

Cordstrap buckles are an essential part of any reliable strapping system. Designed to secure woven and composite strapping, these metal strapping buckles help maintain proper tension so loads stay secure during storage, handling, and transit.

Made from high-quality steel wire, Cordstrap buckles provide a strong, consistent closure method for heavy-duty packaging and shipping applications. Their self-locking design delivers joint efficiency up to 90%, helping your strapping system achieve dependable holding power when properly installed.

Choosing the Right Strapping Buckle

Selecting the correct buckle is critical to achieving full system breaking strength. Cordstrap buckles are available in two main styles: phosphate-coated buckles and galvanized buckles. The right option depends on the type of strapping being used.

Phosphate Buckles for Woven Strapping

Phosphate buckles are designed for use with woven polyester strapping. The phosphate coating creates a rougher surface that increases friction, helping the buckle grip the woven strap securely during tensioning.

Use phosphate buckles when pairing with woven polyester strapping or other compatible woven strapping products.

Galvanized Buckles for Composite Strapping

Galvanized buckles feature a smoother surface, making them ideal for use with composite strapping. This smooth finish allows composite strap to slide through the buckle more easily during application, helping create a strong and efficient connection.

Use galvanized buckles with composite strapping for best performance.

How Cordstrap Buckles Work

Cordstrap buckles are designed with top and bottom legs that close during the tensioning process. As the strap is tightened, the buckle locks the strap in place to help maintain tension and prevent loosening.

For proper installation, the top and bottom legs should form a “C” shape when attached to the strap. The system is considered fully secured when the bottom leg closes tightly over the top of the buckle, helping the strap achieve its full system breaking strength.

Important Installation Note

Cordstrap buckles should not be reused. Once a buckle has been tensioned, its original strength rating may no longer apply. Always use a new buckle to help ensure consistent performance and secure load containment.
