Nylon Rope

Heavy-Duty Nylon Rope

Nylon rope gives you strength, flexibility, and shock absorption in demanding applications. It comes in twisted, braided, and diamond braid constructions, and professionals across transportation, marine, construction, and utility work rely on it for everything from tying down cargo to securing a load to hauling equipment. Built-in stretch handles both static and dynamic loads well.

Why Nylon

Nylon is made from high-strength synthetic fibers with excellent elasticity. That stretch absorbs sudden shock loads, which is why it fits high-impact work like mooring, towing, and safety lines. It resists abrasion, holds its form without unravelling, and stays flexible in both dry and wet conditions.

It also holds up in harsh environments, resisting mold, mildew, and rot even in wet use, along with UV rays, alkalis, petroleum-based products, and most marine growth. One thing to know: nylon absorbs water, which can reduce its strength by about 10-15% when wet. It regains full strength once it dries.

Choosing a Construction

We carry three constructions, each suited to applications that need both strength and stretch.

Twisted Nylon Rope

Twisted is easy to splice, strong under load, and offers a bit more stretch than the other constructions.

Braided Nylon Rope

Braided offers greater flexibility, higher tensile strength, and a smoother finish than twisted. Its tighter weave holds shape under pressure and resists kinks. It knots well, but it's difficult to splice.

Diamond Braid Nylon Rope

Diamond braid uses a balanced braid that's both durable and good looking, and it's easier to handle than a twisted or standard braid style.

Common Applications

Stretch and resilience make nylon a preferred rope across many industries. Common uses include:

• Mooring and anchor lines
• Tow rope and recovery operations
• Sling rope and lifting support
• Safety lines (confirm the rope's rating fits your application)
• Netting, cargo control, and tie-downs
