Open & Open Spelter Socket Slings
Open & Open Spelter Socket Slings
An open & open spelter socket sling puts a pinned, open socket on each end, so both ends connect directly to another fitting or to a crane hook block. That makes it a practical choice for crane lifts where you want to attach at either end without extra hardware.
How the Socket Is Attached
A spelter socket, also called a poured socket, is attached by pouring molten zinc or resin into the socket and letting it harden around the wire rope. The termination delivers 100% efficiency of the rope's strength, so the socket doesn't reduce what the wire rope can carry.
What "Open" Means
The open socket has a pin built in. That pin lets the socket attach to another fitting or to a hook block, which is why this configuration suits industrial crane lifting.
Sizing
Multiple sizes are available, so you can choose the working load limit your lift needs. Diameters run from 1/4" to 1-1/2", and lengths run from 2 to 20 feet.
