Description

EcoFoil Floor Joist Insulation is engineered to reduce radiant heat transfer and help prevent condensation in floor and wall cavities. Built with two layers of polyethylene bubbles bonded to reflective metalized surfaces, this 1/4"–5/16" thick insulation delivers 96% reflectivity and just 4% emissivity—meaning only a small fraction of radiant heat passes through. Instead of slowing heat movement like traditional insulation, it reflects heat away from the surface to improve comfort and energy efficiency. When seams are taped, it also serves as a vapor barrier to help protect framing materials from moisture and mold.

This 24" wide insulation is designed to fit standard 24" on-center floor joists or studs. Lightweight and easy to handle, each piece includes 3/4" staple tabs on both sides for fast, secure installation.

High-Reflectivity Insulation for Joists & Wall Cavities

Floor Joist Insulation is ideal for applications where radiant heat reduction is needed beneath floors, in basement ceilings, or in utility areas. Its double-bubble structure creates an insulating air layer while the reflective surfaces direct heat away from the building envelope. This makes it an effective complement to traditional insulation in areas requiring improved thermal control.

Lightweight, Easy-to-Install Design for 24" On-Center Framing

The pre-sized 24" width fits standard framing without trimming, and the integrated staple tabs simplify installation. The material is clean to handle, flexible enough for tight spaces, and durable enough to resist tears during installation or maintenance.

So far OK but too soon to know

I Installed on an enclosed side porch (18 x 7 feet) with a 12-inch uninsulated space between the ground and the floor, not accessible without ripping out the floor, which I didn't want to do. I have two inches of clearance on top of the old floor before it starts to interfere with doorway clearances. In the winter the floor, and the floor and the room itself, is cold despite wall and ceiling insulation, A friend said he had used an eco foil-like product in a similar situation with good results. So, I put in two layers of Eco Foil directly on the old floor and taped all the seams. Then added j1 inch high joists, 3/8 inch plywood subfloor and new 3/4 inch hardwood flooring from Lowes. I'd guess by January I will know if the effort was worthwhile. Even if not, the new hardwood floor is a big improvement over the old existing floor.
