This 9/16" bright steel wire rope is manufactured from Extra Improved Plow Steel (EIPS) and features a versatile 6x19 construction designed to balance abrasion resistance, strength, and flexibility. Commonly used for hoisting, suspension systems, winch lines, lifting equipment, and general rigging applications, this wire rope delivers dependable performance in demanding industrial environments.
General-Purpose Wire Rope for Hoisting, Rigging & Winch Applications
The 6x19 class is one of the most widely used wire rope constructions due to its combination of durability and flexibility. Compared to 6x37 wire rope, the 6x19 construction provides greater abrasion resistance, making it well-suited for applications where the rope frequently contacts drums, sheaves, and other wear surfaces.
While slightly less flexible and fatigue-resistant than 6x37 constructions, 6x19 wire rope offers excellent service life in applications where wear resistance is a priority.
6x19 Wire Rope Configuration
Our wire rope is manufactured using EIPS-grade steel. EIPS (Extra Improved Plow Steel) provides approximately 10% greater tensile strength than standard IPS-grade wire rope, resulting in improved breaking strength and dependable load-carrying performance.
The class of this wire rope is 6x19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, consisting of six outer strands surrounding the core, with approximately 15-26 wires making up each strand. This design provides an effective balance of flexibility, strength, and abrasion resistance.
Bright Finish & IWRC Construction
This wire rope features a bright steel finish protected with an A-1 petroleum-based lubricant applied to both internal and external wires. The lubricant helps reduce friction, minimize internal wear, and provide basic resistance against moisture and corrosion.
The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides greater structural support than fiber core constructions. IWRC wire rope offers enhanced crushing resistance, improved load stability, and dependable operation in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 400°F.
