I got these because it was the about the only 6x8 column base I could find. I would have preferred a black Simpson Outdoor Accents base that would have looked a whole lot nicer but a black 6x8 base did not seem to exist. Fasteners Plus had (by far) the best price for what I did get but they were still very expensive. They seem to be very strong but I do have one big issue with them though. The standoff plates are not solidly attached to the rest of the base. Simpson simply put bends in the metal to hold them in place but they can, and do, easily slide around on the base. I would have welded them in place in a jig so each one was exactly like the other. I haven't installed them yet but it is going to make it that much more difficult to precisely set them in the concrete columns since I can't use the standoff plate as a reference. It's also not the only issue I've had with Simpson Strong-Tie. I also purchased Simpson Outdoor Accents T straps (from another vendor) and the holes drilled in them are not symmetrical about the strap. They are all offset in one direction. For example. if you take 2 of them and lie them on top of each other, the holes will only line up in on orientation. Flip one over and they are like a 1/4 inch off. Either this was intentional so opposing T strap screws would not contact each other or it was just poor quality control. I don't know which. In any case, the sloppy standoff connection doesn't allow me to give this column base more than 3 stars.

I was told that these would ship same day and arrive the next day. The didn't ship for three days, I received them on the 4th day. No explanation was given.
