The Simpson Strong-Tie VGTL Variable-Pitch Girder Tiedown is engineered for high-capacity applications involving girder trusses. Its left-conceal design allows for seamless integration with trusses lacking overhangs, making it ideal for both new constructions and retrofit projects.
Key Features:
- Material: Constructed from 7-gauge galvanized steel for enhanced strength and corrosion resistance.
- Design: Left flange concealed for attachment to trusses with no tail.
- Load Capacity: Suitable for moderate- to high-load applications, including high-wind zones.
- Pitch Accommodation: Predeflected crescent washer allows installation on roof pitches up to 8/12.
- Fasteners Included: Comes with (16) 1/4 in. x 3 in. Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws.
Applications:
- Ideal for securing multi-ply girder trusses in wood-frame structures.
- Suitable for both new construction and retrofit scenarios.
- Designed to resist uplift forces in areas prone to high winds.
Installation:
- Attach to the side of the truss using the provided Strong-Drive® SDS screws.
- Ensure the predeflected crescent washer is installed so that the top is horizontal and parallel with the top plate of the wall.
- Can be installed singly or in pairs to achieve higher uplift capacities.
- Screw holes are configured to allow for double installation on a two-ply (minimum) truss.
