Description

3/4" 8x19 Spin-Resistant Wire Rope Cable

This 3/4" 8x19 spin-resistant wire rope is designed to minimize rope rotation while under load, making it a dependable solution for hoisting unguided loads with single-part or multi-part line systems. Manufactured from Extra Improved Plow Steel (EIPS), this wire rope combines strength, durability, and limited rotation resistance for demanding lifting and rigging applications.

Spin-Resistant Wire Rope for Hoisting & Lifting Applications

The 8x19 construction utilizes strands laid in opposing directions around the core, allowing internal strand rotation to counteract external strand rotation when under load. This design helps reduce spinning and load rotation during lifting operations. Classified as a Category 3 Rotation-Resistant Rope, the 8x19 construction provides limited resistance to rotation while offering greater durability than many Category 2 rotation-resistant ropes.

8x19 Wire Rope Configuration

Our wire rope is manufactured using EIPS-grade steel. EIPS (Extra Improved Plow Steel) provides approximately 10% greater tensile strength than IPS-grade wire rope, resulting in increased break strength and dependable performance in demanding applications.

The class of this wire rope is 8x19. These numbers nominally refer to the rope construction, indicating eight outer strands with approximately 15-26 wires per strand. The actual construction supplied is 8x25, providing additional flexibility and durability while maintaining the performance characteristics of the 8x19 class.

Finish & Core

This wire rope features a bright steel finish protected with an A-1 petroleum-based lubricant. The lubricant penetrates both internal and external wires to reduce friction, minimize wear, and provide basic protection against moisture and corrosion.

The Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) provides enhanced support and stability compared to fiber core alternatives. IWRC construction improves crushing resistance and helps maintain rope integrity under load. It is also suitable for elevated temperature applications, with a general operating range of -40°F (-40°C) to 400°F (204°C).

Key Features

  • EIPS-grade steel provides increased tensile and breaking strength.
  • Spin-resistant design helps reduce load rotation during lifting operations.
  • Category 3 rotation-resistant rope suitable for single-part and multi-part line applications.
  • Actual rope construction is 8x25.
  • Bright steel finish with A-1 lubricant reduces internal friction and wear.
  • IWRC core improves crushing resistance and structural stability.
  • More durable than many Category 2 rotation-resistant rope constructions.
  • Meets Federal Specification RR-W-410 and ASTM A1023 requirements.
  • Should not be used with a swivel.

Common Applications

  • Hoisting unguided loads
  • Crane and lifting operations
  • Material handling systems
  • Industrial rigging applications
  • Single-part and multi-part line systems

Installation Tips

  • Do not use this wire rope with swivels, as doing so may compromise the rope's rotation-resistant design.
  • Inspect rope regularly for broken wires, wear, crushing, or deformation.
  • Use only properly rated fittings and hardware designed for the rope diameter and application requirements.
  • Follow applicable industry standards and manufacturer recommendations for installation, inspection, and maintenance.
