Tie Downs for Motorcycles

Outfit your trailer or truck with motorcycle tie downs that are simple to use and built to last. We carry motorcycle straps, complete tie down systems, and accessories in styles and sizes that fit dirt bikes, sport bikes, street bikes, cruisers, and more.

Most motorcycle, dirt bike, sport bike, and street bike tie downs share the same core design and can be used interchangeably. If you are shopping for a brand specific setup check your owner’s manual for any transport notes and anchor recommendations.

Choose the Right Motorcycle Tie Downs

Your hauling method usually determines the best gear. A trailer designed for motorcycles may use different anchor layouts than an enclosed trailer or a pickup bed. To make shopping easier, we group products into three categories below.

Motorcycle Straps

  • Webbing: High quality 1 inch polyester is easy to handle and strong for powersports. It resists water absorption and will not stretch, rot, or mildew. It also stands up to abrasion and UV exposure.
  • End fittings: Common options include S hooks and snap hooks. Both attach quickly to anchor points or track systems.
  • Cam buckle or ratchet: Ratchet straps deliver the tightest tension but can be overtightened if you are not careful. Cam buckle straps remove slack by hand which makes them a smart pick for delicate finishes and plastics.
  • Handlebar and soft loop options: Use with bar straps and rated anchor points for a quick, scratch free setup.

Tie Down Systems

There are two popular track systems for motorcycle transport. Both provide flexible anchor positions across the floor or walls of a trailer or van.

L Track Tie Down Anchors for Motorcycles

  • What it is: L track is also called airline track. Mount it to floors or walls and clip straps using spring or double stud fittings.
  • Colors and sizes: Rails and straps come in a range of sizes and colors. Build brand themed kits such as orange and black for KTM or Harley. Popular color matches include red for Honda, blue for Yamaha, green for Kawasaki, and olive drab for camo or military looks.
  • Shop filters: Use filters on the L track page to view available finishes and lengths.

Securing with E Track

  • What it is: E track uses a wider, flatter rail than L track. Available in galvanized or painted finishes.
  • Straps and fittings: Standard E track straps are commonly available in yellow, blue, and gray. Add E track fittings with D rings and other attachment points to use additional strap colors and end fittings.

Tie Down Accessories

  • Anchors: Single and double anchors create quick fitting connection points.
  • Track filler: Keep dirt and sand out of the track for smoother operation.
  • End caps: Finish the installation and reduce abrupt edges.

Using Motorcycle Tie Downs

Secure to the motorcycle frame whenever possible by looping a soft loop or double eye strap over a solid anchor point. For most dirt bikes and small street motorcycles, two points at the front and one on each side is adequate. With the right tools one person can secure a bike solo.

Tying Down a Motorcycle

  1. Prepare your tie downs: Attach ratchet straps to trailer anchor points. Place the loose ends where you can reach them from the seat.
  2. Load the motorcycle: Start and warm up the bike. Ride or walk it onto the trailer and center it between the straps.
  3. Attach rear and side straps: While seated, clip and tighten the rear straps until the bike cannot shift.
  4. Attach the front straps: Ensure balance, then dismount and tighten the front straps so the bike stands upright and steady.
  5. Final check: The motorcycle should be upright with straight strap lines to the anchor points.
  6. Test the setup: Shake the bike. You should see trailer motion with minimal bike movement. If the bike moves, recheck each strap. Tightening one strap can create slack in another if the bike is not perfectly straight.
