Personal Fall Limiters

A personal fall limiter (PFL) is a compact self-retracting device that mounts straight onto the worker's harness. Instead of anchoring the housing overhead, you clip the short lifeline to the structure, which keeps the footprint small and works well in tight spots where a full-size SRL would be in the way.

How They Differ from a Standard SRL

PFLs use a shorter lifeline, commonly in the range of about six to nine feet, and come with either galvanized cable or a synthetic line. Because the unit rides on the harness, the worker carries it as part of their gear and connects to the nearest suitable anchor, which can be handy on scaffolds, steel framing, and roof edges. Where PFLs Make Sense

• Work where overhead anchor points are limited or inconvenient.
• Crews who move often between short tie-off positions.
