Hook and Eye Wire Rope Slings

Single leg eye and hook wire rope slings are well suited to maneuvering and making connections in tight places. The eye hook connects to many types of attachment points, and a latch prevents accidental disconnection, which adds safety and ease of use. Standard eye and hook slings can be used in choker, vertical, and basket connections, across a range of angled and hitch-type lifts.

Keep in mind that the open eye is more susceptible to wear and deformation, and that the hook must be checked for stress and wear over time.

Sling Construction

  • Wire rope: EIPS-grade IWRC bright steel wire rope in 6x25 or 6x36 configurations, built for heavy-duty lifting while staying flexible. IWRC core slings handle temperatures from -40°F (-40°C) up to 400°F (204°C).
  • Flemish eye: each sling uses Flemish eyes, which splice the wire rope securely for strong, efficient terminations.
  • Thimbled eye loop: a reinforced thimble in each eye loop protects the wire rope from crushing and wear, which extends the sling's life and makes for smoother connections to the hook.
  • Latched eye hook: carbon steel hooks include a latch to prevent disconnections.

Quality and Compliance

  • Standards: these slings are built to meet ASME B30.9 and OSHA 1910.184.
  • Proof testing certificates: available on request for a nominal fee. They document that the sling has been pull tested to twice its vertical rating.
  • Metal tag: each sling is inspected, certified, and tagged with a metal tag showing capacity, care instructions, and operating guidelines.
