A load cell is a transducer: a sensor that converts pressure, or force, into an electrical signal. That translation is what lets rigging operators precisely measure and monitor tension across wire rope, guy wire, synthetic rope, shackles, and more, rather than relying on guesswork during a lift.
Load cells show up across oil and gas, shipping, construction, renewable energy, lifting and cranes, mining, staging, test and inspection, and military applications. Beyond extending the working life of your rigging equipment, load monitoring can be the difference between a safe lift and a costly accident.

Tension Load Cells
Tension load cells, including Straightpoint's Radiolink Plus (wireless) and Wirelink Plus (cabled), cover tension reading capacities from 1-ton up to 500-ton. They're designed for use with Crosby® shackles, though they're compatible with other brands as well. Common applications include overhead weighing, testing, bollard pulling, tug testing, cable tensioning, and heavy lift work. For vehicle load monitoring specifically, Straightpoint's Towcell® fits directly onto a 2" tow ball. Tension load cells are available individually or paired with corresponding shackles.
Compression Load Cells
Compression load cells calculate the center of gravity on large, heavy objects, a common need in heavy lift and structural weighing work. Straightpoint's compression load cells lead the industry in both compact size and wireless capability, handling loads up to 1000-ton. Paired with Straightpoint's software, you can read and monitor up to 100 wireless compression load cells from a computer or tablet and generate real-time test certificates on site, all from a safe distance. Wired compression load cells are also available.
Line Tensionmeters & Running Line Dynamometers
Straightpoint's COLT clamp on line tensionmeter gives you a fast, accurate way to measure tension on wire rope, guy wire, electrical cable, and synthetic rope. For situations with no anchor or dead end on the line, Straightpoint's running line dynamometers measure tension, line speed, and distance instead.
Shackle Load Cells
Loadshackles solve for limited headroom or super-heavy lift projects, available in wireless, cabled, and Bluetooth-only configurations. Built using Crosby® brand shackles, commonly the G2130 and G2140, every loadshackle includes a load-centering bobbin and ranges in capacity from 3.25 ton to 400 ton.
Miniweigher Plus Crane Scales
Miniweigher Plus crane scales are compact, accurate, and often mounted between a winch and a tripod for monitoring loads during the safe raising and lowering of equipment or personnel. These wireless scales are available from 100kg up to 5 tons.
