Specifications
Strong-Tie SDWS Timber Screws feature a 4CUT tip which eliminates the need for pre-drilling, saving valuable time compared to using traditional lag bolts. Each SDWS screw features a double barrier coating that is equivalent to hot dip galvanization, making them suitable for some exterior and preservative treated wood applications.

We use these frequently at our shop and with the deeper thread spacing these drive far better than any other competitor that we have found. Highly reliable not prone to snapping or bending. Would recomend over any other brand.

I was a long-time fan of FastenMaster heavy duty fasteners (FlatLOK, HeadLOK, etc). My first time around with Simpson timber screws is the beginning of a long relationship with these fasteners.
They outperformed FlatLOKs to a degree I am still surprised by. They snugged a whole bunch of rough-cut hemlock multi-ply beams together like you read about. They are now the basis for my recently framed post and beam workshop.
