Description
Sealtite Kwikseal ZXL Woodbinder screws are self-drilling screws designed to attach metal roofing & siding to wood purlins on post-frame & residential metal roof applications. Stitch screws are designed specifically to fasten overlapping panel together. Coated screws feature a tough 2.5 mils of powder coating that will not chalk or fade due to the UV inhibitor in all colored coatings. 5/16" cupped HWH with a molded ZAMAC 5 Zinc-Aluminum alloy provides lifetime protection against red rust on the head & washer. The ZAMAC 5 alloy provides more strength than more common ZAMAC 3 alloy. You may obtain a free copy of the written warranty upon request. Washer face design helps to capture rubber EPDM washer even when driven at an angle. Threads transition from fine to coarse to generate superior holding strength in various wood substrates. Sharp point with pronounced lead thread consistently drills high-tensile 29 & 26 gauge steel with no “point walking".

Well designed screw

I like this screw design. There is only one failure point with this design which would be the rubber washer. When I received the screws, I did not inspect them nor did I try them out. I recently used them on my shed renovation on which I used sheet metal roof. I noticed that the rubber washer had paint on the underside from the color the screw head was painted. My only concern with this is if the paint would create some kind of entry point for the moisture. Since it's only a small amount of paint I was not overly concerned. I did have a bit a difficulty placing some of the screws on the nut driver due to the amount of paint used. I would say one out of ten screws had a thick coat of paint making more difficult to seat properly on the nut driver. This small issue would cause some frustration since it would add time to standing at an incline and delay my installation. Besides the small things that I encountered while using the screws I would definitely buy them again. I would probably use the non-painted ones and paint them after installation. Also, none of the screws broke which is always a good sign of a quality product. Since I'm not done with my install, I will use a different nut driver the next time to see if the paint is to thick or maybe just the nut driver was meant for a non-painted screw. I will up my findings on my next review of these screws.
