The GLB Beam Seat from Simpson Strong-Tie is built to provide dependable support for glulam, sawn lumber, or engineered wood beams where they intersect with structural concrete or CMU pilasters. Its rectangular steel-plate design features two vertical plates to capture and secure the beam with a single bolt, offering a clean and stable connection. With two #6 x 12" rebar extensions included, the GLB seat is embedded into the form before concrete is poured—ensuring a reinforced, permanent bond within the structure.

Key Features:

  • Wide Beam Compatibility: Designed for use with glulam, sawn lumber, and engineered wood beams
  • Concrete Integration: Includes two #6 x 12" rebar extensions for embedding into concrete or CMU pilasters
  • Simple Beam Attachment: Single-bolt connection for easy beam installation and strong lateral support

Applications:

  • Wood beam-to-concrete/CMU pilaster connections in structural framing
  • Residential or commercial projects requiring beam support from a poured concrete base
  • Engineered wood or glulam beam integration with masonry or concrete forms

Installation Overview:

  1. Positioning: Place the GLB Beam Seat into the concrete formwork at the required elevation and alignment
  2. Rebar Placement: Ensure the two #6 x 12" rebar extensions are fully embedded for structural anchoring
  3. Concrete Pour: Pour and finish concrete, encapsulating the seat and rebar securely into the pilaster
  4. Beam Connection: Once concrete is cured, insert the beam into the seat and fasten it using the designated bolt through the vertical plates

NOTE: The correct fasteners installed in the correct position must be used to achieve published load values
