Description

The Simpson Strong-Tie DTT2SS Deck Tension Tie is designed to provide a critical lateral load connection between your deck and the supporting structure. Engineered to help resist deck movement caused by wind and seismic forces, the DTT2SS strengthens the deck-to-house connection and improves overall structural stability.

Manufactured from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, this version is ideal for decks exposed to harsh environments such as coastal areas, high-moisture conditions, or applications using preservative-treated lumber. The stainless steel construction delivers superior long-term durability where standard galvanized coatings may not be sufficient.

Each DTT2SS includes (8) 1/4" x 2-1/2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws for secure attachment to deck joists or framing members. When properly installed with a 1/2" diameter threaded rod or anchor bolt into the supporting structure, the DTT2SS helps meet IRC code requirements for deck lateral load connections.

For projects where corrosion resistance and structural performance are equally critical, the DTT2SS provides dependable strength and long-term protection.

Key Features

  • Designed for lateral load resistance in deck applications
  • Stainless steel construction for maximum corrosion resistance
  • Ideal for coastal, high-moisture, and preservative-treated lumber applications
  • Helps meet IRC code requirements for deck lateral load connections
  • Compatible with 1/2" diameter threaded rod or anchor bolt (sold separately)
  • Includes (8) 1/4" x 2-1/2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws
  • Compact profile for easy installation in tight framing spaces

Applications

  • Deck-to-house lateral load connections
  • Coastal and marine environments
  • High-humidity or moisture-prone areas
  • Deck construction using pressure-treated lumber
  • New deck builds and structural retrofits

Installation

The DTT2SS installs directly to the deck joist or framing member using the included 1/4" x 2-1/2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws. A 1/2" diameter threaded rod or anchor bolt is then used to secure the tension tie into the supporting structure, such as a house band joist or concrete wall.

For proper load transfer and code compliance, follow Simpson Strong-Tie installation instructions and applicable local building codes regarding placement, fasteners, and spacing requirements.

NOTE: The correct fasteners installed in the correct position must be used to achieve published load values
