The Strong-Tie PCZ series of post caps are used to attach the top of posts to beams. The next-generation PC6Z post caps are designed with their post and beam flanges in-line so that one PC6Z model can accommodate several post sizes. The PC6Znow uses easier-to-install 10d common nails. An alternate choice of fasteners is Strong-Drive® #9x1 1/2" SD Connector screws. The PC6Z post cap is approved to be installed with the specified nails or with Strong-Drive SD connector screws. The Strong-Tie PC6Z post base features a G185 ZMAX galvanized finish for added corrosion resistance and requires the use of hot-dip galvanized fasteners which meet the specifications of ASTM A153.
