Material Baskets for Crane Lifts
When loose or awkward material has to go from one level, bay, or work area to another, a material basket keeps it contained and lets a crane move it in one lift. Instead of slinging each piece separately, you load the basket, rig it, and set the whole thing down where it is needed. The material baskets here are made by M&W in the USA, and every model carries a 2,500 lb. working load limit.

All four sides stay in place, which suits material you can load from above and want fully enclosed. They are available in the widest range of lengths, up to 60".
One side lowers, which is meant to make loading and unloading easier when you are handling material from the side. They come in 36" and 48" lengths.
Choosing the Right Basket

Know the load. Total the weight of everything going in. The 2,500 lb. rating is for the load, and the basket's own weight also counts toward the capacity of your crane and rigging.

Match the length. Pick a length that holds your longest items without letting them stick out.

Choose how you load. If you load from above, fixed sides are fine. If you load from the side, consider a drop side.

Think about what travels in it. Small or loose pieces should be secured so they cannot shift or fall out during the lift.
Do Not Use for Personnel
These baskets are not intended for personnel lifting. Never ride in a material basket or lift anyone in one. Putting people in the air takes gear designed for it, plus tightly controlled procedures. Our personnel baskets are a separate collection.
Lifting Safely
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for rigging the basket and for the type of lift you plan.
- Do not exceed the working load limit, and spread the load evenly so the basket hangs level.
- Use slings, shackles, and other rigging that are rated for the load and the lift.
- Keep everyone clear of the basket and its path while it is overhead.
- Inspect the basket before each use for bent or cracked members, damaged welds, and missing parts, and remove it from service if any are found.
- Bring in a qualified person for lifts that are critical or out of the ordinary, and stay within OSHA and site rules.
