Twin-Path® High Temperature High Performance Roundslings
Wire rope and chain aren't always the right call in a high-heat environment, and that's exactly the gap Sparkeater® slings are built to fill. Rated to handle temperatures up to 300°F (149°C), they give you a synthetic option where metal rigging would otherwise be the default.
Built for Heat, Not Just Strength
Thermal stability starts at the core. The load-bearing yarns are Aramid, a material chosen for being heat-resistant, high-tenacity, and low-stretch all at once. Wrapping that core is a Nomex® jacket, which adds both flame resistance and heat resistance on top of it. Between the two, the sling holds up across a wide range, down to a minimum of -40°F (-40°C) on the low end.
The Two-Path Design
Sparkeater® slings run two independent core fiber paths rather than one. That construction delivers real strength without piling on weight, which makes the sling easier to transport and rig, and cuts down on the physical strain that leads to on-the-job injuries. The two-path design pays off in two other ways as well: the sling conforms to the load, making it a better fit for fragile cargo than other high-temperature options, and if one path is compromised, the second still offers protection. There's also a practical upside if the outer jacket takes damage but the inner fibers stay intact: the manufacturer may be able to repair it, which can save you the cost of a full replacement.
Proven in Demanding Applications
Pyrotechnic displays and offshore petroleum work are two of the most common places you'll find Sparkeater® slings earning their keep. That's not just anecdotal: fire-exposure testing conducted by London Scientific, in conjunction with the Offshore Certification Bureau, found these slings performed on par with wire rope or chain slings under offshore petroleum conditions.
Inspections and Sling Protection
Every Sparkeater® sling includes a tattle tail inspection system: an extension of the core yarns that retracts into the sling if it's been overloaded, giving you a visual flag before the sling goes back into service. Note: this system is a supplement, not a substitute, for standard inspections, which should still be performed regularly by a qualified professional.
ASME B30.9 (2021) 9-5.10.4(d) requires that "slings in contact with edges, corners, protrusions, or abrasive surfaces shall be protected with a material of sufficient strength, thickness, and construction to prevent damage."
